(0 review)
Mandoor Bhasma (also spelled as Mandur Bhasma) is a traditional Ayurvedic calcined iron formulation primarily made from purified old iron rust (ferric oxide). It is widely used in traditional medicine for its potential haematinic (blood-building) and digestive properties, particularly in treating iron deficiency anemia and related conditions.
Key Ingredients
The primary ingredient is old iron rust (ferric oxide), which undergoes a purification and calcination process using various herbal decoctions and juices, typically including:
  • Triphala decoction (a blend of amla, haritaki, and bibhitaki)
  • Cow's urine
  • Aloe vera juice
This process is believed to create a bioavailable form of iron with lower toxicity.
Traditional Uses and Potential Benefits
Mandoor Bhasma is traditionally indicated for a range of health issues, including:
  • Anemia: It is considered a primary treatment for microcytic anemia (iron deficiency anemia), helping to boost hemoglobin levels and red blood cell production.
  • Liver and Spleen Disorders: It is used to support liver function and address conditions like jaundice, hepatomegaly (liver enlargement), and splenomegaly (spleen enlargement).
  • Digestive Health: It acts as a digestive stimulant, which may help improve appetite and nutrient absorption.
  • Gynecological Issues: It may be used for conditions like amenorrhea (absent periods) and dysmenorrhea (painful periods), and to manage excessive blood loss.
  • General Health: It is also used to help maintain blood sugar levels, support metabolism, and address general debility and fatigue.
Safety and Usage
  • Medical Supervision is Mandatory: As with all traditional medicines and herbs, Mandoor Bhasma should only be taken strictly under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional or an Ayurvedic practitioner.
